There are 8 conditions required to import a car from abroad for personal use, as Montaser Zeitoun, a member of the Automobile Division of the Chamber of Commerce, stressed the importance of adhering to the terms and conditions for importing cars from abroad to ensure the smooth running of the process and avoiding legal obstacles, explaining that importing cars is a preferred option for many citizens, but it is necessary to adhere to the specified conditions for that.

Conditions required to import cars from abroad for personal use

1. Shipping the car or opening an import credit during the model year - It is necessary to ship the car or open an import credit during the same year of the car model.

2. Proof of car ownership - Zeitoun indicated in a special statement to Al-Watan that importing a car requires submitting documents proving its ownership, while ensuring that the date of issuing the purchase document matches the actual purchase date.

3. Documenting the ownership document - The ownership document must be approved and certified by the competent authorities.

4. Original car driving license - Submitting the original car driving license as part of the import documents.

5. A traffic certificate from the exporting country - A traffic certificate must be obtained from the exporting country, stating the vehicle data, year of ownership and model.

6. Documenting the traffic certificate from the Egyptian embassy or consulate - "Zeitoun" indicated that the traffic certificate must be documented from the Egyptian embassy or consulate in the exporting country, provided that it is valid for 30 days.

7. Proof of the owner's presence abroad at the time of ownership - The importer must provide proof of his presence abroad at the time of ownership of the car.

8. Receiving the car at the port - He stressed that the car must be received from the port by its owner personally or through a power of attorney issued by him.

As for exceptions for investors, there are other conditions

"Zeitoun" explained that there is a special exception for investors, as they are allowed to import their own cars without being bound by the age condition, which gives them greater flexibility in choosing the cars they wish to import.

"Zeitoun" stressed that adhering to these conditions and controls ensures that importers complete the process of importing their cars legally and smoothly, stressing the importance of educating the public about these procedures to avoid any legal problems that may occur in the future.
