Growing demand for electric models has prompted Porsche to expand the Panamera lineup to include a total of 4 e-Hybrid engines, all of which are revealed to offer increased power outputs, improved efficiency and greater range figures compared to the outgoing model.

The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid is equipped with a revamped 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a single electric motor integrated into the updated 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, and a larger 25.9 kWh battery pack.

Porsche says that using a single housing for the gearbox and electric motor reduces weight by 5 kg, while integrating it into the oil circulation system enhances thermal efficiency, and enables a higher output of 187 horsepower. As a result, the combined output of the hybrid system reaches 670 horsepower, enabling acceleration. From zero to 60 miles per hour, that is, from zero to 96 km/h in just 3 seconds, and a maximum speed of 314 km/h.

With Porsche test driver Lars Kern at the wheel, the high-performance Panamera recorded a time of 7.24.17, 5.64 seconds faster than the previous Panamera.

This success is due to many improvements in control, most notably the Porsche Active Ride suspension system. This combines active shock absorbers and an electronically controlled hydraulic pump, where the pump can change the ride characteristics quickly and accurately to increase comfort and improve control, which maintains the car’s stability in all conditions.
